Scene from “Violeta se fue a los Cielos”
It was September of 1973 and the heart of Pablo Neruda stopped beating. The same organ that it was an endless source of inspiration for one of the greatest poets of the 20th century, granted him the ultimate freedom in a country that was being slaved by a military coup.
Forty years have passed and at the 22 Festival of Images and Words we want to tribute “the greatest poet of the 20th century in any language” in words of Gabriel García Marquez.
The event will start at 3.00 pm with readings and declamations of Pablo Neruda’s work, followed by a reception.
Also we will have the screening of the movie “Violeta se fue a los Cielos” at 4.00 pm.
With the help of the Consulate of Chile en Toronto.
