The 22 Festival of Images and Words, , is proud to announce our 2013 program, celebrating Latin American art and culture in Canada. This year’s festival, running September 24th to November 9th, includes 17 events featuring film, music, literature, art and theater for both English, French and Spanish-speaking audiences.
Highlights:
The Honourable Michael Coteau, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Immigration will be kicking-off this year’s event at York University’s Glendon Gallery, Tuesday September 24, at 6:30 p.m. with a presentation of the SHARED SPACES art exhibition. The opening ceremony will include the participation of representatives from the Consulates of: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
Film and television director André Guttfreund, winner of a 1976 Oscar for his short feature “En la Región del Hielo” (In the Ice Region), will be giving a presentation and public discussion of his recent works, followed by a feature film. Saturday, September 28, 5:00 p.m. at the Glendon College Centre of Excellence.
“Exit”, a one act play created and performed by Isaac Luy and directed by Francine Coté’s Clown and Comedy School present a view on what it means to be an immigrant, from the perspective of a clown (based on a true story). Friday, October 18, 8:00 p.m. Glendon Theatre, York Hall, Glendon College, York University

Arte Para la Vida (Art for Life): Presentation by Diego Samper and showing of Panopticon, and Canaloa project, a plan for the conservation of cultural diversity and biodiversity in the Colombian Amazonia.
The Quito-Toronto Connection: Celebration of the Ecuadorian culture present in the sister cities of Quito and Toronto. Sí-Sí Cine Toronto Latin Film Festival, including El Mural, directed by Héctor Olivera. Children’s theatre, Cafe concert and much more.
