Estela García

Born in Paraguay, Estela arrived in Canada with her family, in 1989. She continued her post-secondary studies in Toronto. Besides working for a law firm, currently, Estela continues to serve the Latino immigrant community of Toronto, being involved as a board member at the San Lorenzo Latin American Community Center and CHHA 1610AM Radio Voces Latinas. She is also former CFO at the Center for Spanish Speaking Peoples, and Treasurer of Manos Unidas Fund-raising.

She has been a volunteer, for nearly two decades helping new immigrants, translating documents, immigration paperwork, and providing other types of aid to the newcomers, reason why she has received many recognitions.

Estela is the producer and host of the cultural radio show “Rohayhu Paraguay”, at CHHA1610AM Radio Voces Latinas where she has the opportunity to bring the inhabitants of multicultural Toronto, throughout Canada, and to the internet listeners, around the world, about Paraguayan music, history, and especially proud to be able to convey about the idiosyncrasies of the Paraguayans.

Estela loves reading and enjoys writing poems in both Spanish language and in her sweet Guarani language. She is fluent in Guarani, Spanish and English languages.
